Dear all: It's a full weekend at Berkeley Friends Church--please don't forget about these events: 1) Tomorrow, Friday, 10/25, is our monthly Movie Night! This last presentation of 2013 is Sarah's Key, a drama that offers an unusual angle on the Holocaust. This fictional film explores the reverberations of one extraordinary young girl's story for her descendents and for those whose lives intersected with hers. Dear Friends: This coming Sunday, 10/20, the Singing Ensemble will meet to rehearse at 9 AM. Then, Sunday School classes for children and adults meet at 10 AM. We gather for worship at 11 AM, seeking God's presence together with an extended period of open worship along with corporate prayer and Spirit-filled singing, including a presentation from the Singing Ensemble. Our monthly potluck lunch follows worship; please bring a dish to share if you can, or a few dollars to help with the purchase of supplies. (If you are bringing something to eat, please also bring a list of ingredients so that people know what's in your dish.) Dear Friends: It's a full weekend at Berkeley Friends Church. Here's what is scheduled: 1) Tomorrow, Saturday, 9/14, we will host the quarterly meeting of the Christian Friends Conference--Western Region (CFC). You are invited to take part in waiting worship and Bible reading in the manner of Conservative Friends, and to share fellowship and an open discussion with Christian Quakers from around the Bay Area and beyond. 9 AM - 4:30 PM. Beverages and bagels will be provided in the morning; please bring your own lunch. See the attached for a schedule with full details. 2) Also on Saturday, the Knit & Crochet Fellowship will meet at the meetinghouse, at 11 AM. They will coordinate with CFC to share the space. Dear Friends: Here's what's happening this weekend at Berkeley Friends Church: 1) Saturday, 8/10, is the bimonthly Harvest Day for the Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project. All of the donations from the various neighborhoods will be coming in to the Food Pantry that morning. Volunteers are still needed to receive, weigh, sort and store the donations! You can come by as early as 9:30 AM and there will be things to do through 1 PM. Also, if you're participating in BFC's "neighborhood" and didn't bring in your bag last Sunday, you're welcome to bring yours by any time between 10  AM and 12:30 PM. 2) On Sunday, 8/11, things start with our Sunday School classes for adults and children at 10 AM. Dear Friends: After the heavy schedule of last weekend, this Sunday, 8/1 will be a little more relaxed: A reminder: we will be bringing in our green bags with us when we come to worship! The Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project's bimonthly Harvest Day is next Saturday, and we want to bring all of the church's contributions together this Sunday in worship. So before you head out the door this Sunday, be sure to grab that bag full of food and bring it with you, and then when you get here, bring it into worship with you! This month we present the 2009 biopic Creation, which captures the legendary scientist Charles Darwin in a period of intense mourning--and expansive intellectual discovery--following the untimely death of his young daughter, Annie. Darwin's work on his groundbreaking book On the Origin of Species and his questioning of God's existence parallel one another, much to the chagrin of his devout wife. ADMISSION IS FREE! Come, share & learn! 2) On Sunday, 7/14, things start at 9 AM with the Stewardship & Finance Committee, meeting to make sure the meeting's finances are in order. Then at 10 AM, our regular Sunday School classes for adults and children will meet. We gather for worship at 11 AM, with a meditation on Psalm 130 and what it means to wait on the Lord.
