Adult Education Hour and Sunday School for children and teens begin at 10:00 AM every Sunday. Everyone is welcome.
We would love to worship with you at 11:00 AM on Sundays. Each week our worship may include a variety of planned elements like prayer, group singing, special music offered by members of the community, a meditative reading, a children’s story time, scripture reading or an inspiring sermon.
The key component of each week for us is our “open worship” (also sometimes called “silent worship” or “Quaker worship”). In this period of about 20-40 minutes we sit in silence, listening to hear God speaking to us as individuals and as a community. Sometimes during this time, one of us will feel led by the Spirit to give a brief message. Often this takes the form of a short reflection, a song, a Bible passage or a prayer. Other messages may follow after another period of silence. Anyone who feels like God is leading them to speak may.
More about Quaker Worship at Berkeley Friends Church
Dress is casual and services last about 75 minutes. All children join the whole community for the first fifteen minutes of the service. Childcare is provided after that for elementary school age and younger kids. We provide bags of quiet activities for older children and those who wish to stay for worship.
After worship you are warmly invited to join us in a time of fellowship with good coffee, tea, and tasty refreshments.
Getting to Worship
If you are coming in person by car we have a small parking lot off of Sacramento St available for everyone to use during worship. If it is full, there is also often easy to find street parking on Cedar, Sacramento or Lincoln St.
By public transportation, AC Transit line 52 from the UC campus stops right outside our building, at the corner of Sacramento and Cedar. The nearest BART station is North Berkeley, three blocks south of Cedar on Sacramento.
