Quaker Heritage Day and CROP Walk Weekend @BFC!

It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year at Berkeley Friends Church!

Tomorrow night, Friday, 4/15, we’ll be having a simple potluck meal to welcome our Quaker Heritage Day speaker, Marlene Pedigo. Everyone is welcome at about 6:30 PM for food and fellowship. If you’d like to come and haven’t contacted us, please let John Maurer or Brian Young know.

Then, on Saturday, 4/16, QHD 2016 begins at 9 AM! Marlene will be speaking on “Forgotten Friends’ Testimonies (?)” The question mark is there because, while some of us may think that we haven’t forgotten about important things like eldering and supporting women in the ministry, we may very well find ourselves learning some things… see this post for the schedule and other details.

Finally, we gather on Sunday, 4/17, beginning at 9 AM with the Singing Ensemble rehearsal. Then we have Sunday School classes for children and adults, meeting at 10 AM. The adults will meet with Marlene for continued conversation. Then Worship is at 11 AM, with corporate song, prayer and stillness, a selection from the Singing Ensemble, and Marlene’s message on “The Power of Prayer and Joy to Gather the Church,” based on Acts 16:13-34.

Another potluck follows, and then:

…some folks will stay for our Monthly Meeting with a Concern for Business at 1 PM.

…while others will depart for the annual CROP Hunger Walk, which raises money for the global anti-hunger work of Church World Service and local organizations including the Food Pantry. If you’d like to support the walkers with a donation, you still have time to visit the Berkeley Quakers Team page at https://goo.gl/CgURR3.

May we gather in joyful prayer this weekend!
