No Bible Study this week on September 7. On September 14 and 21 the group will be watching and discussing the film “The Race to Save the World.” This movie tells of the stories of regular person who are devoting their lives to fighting climate chaos. Bible Study will also be canceled on September 28. On October 5, it will pick up again discussing the book “A Quaker Prayer Life” by David Johnson.”

The Renovare Book Club has selected the Journal of John Woolman as one of their books for this next session starting October 4. Former Quaker Heritage Day speaker Jon Kershner will be facilitating the discussion of that book. Discussion are online live and through chat. Membership costs $40 without the books. Social and Environmental Action Committee of Berkeley Meeting will be hosting a presentation on Climate Crisis: Solutions and Possibilities by Dr. Mark D. Levine on Friday, September 17th @ 7 pm via Zoom. Dr. Levine was director of the Environmental Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) from 1996-2006, has written chapters of the IPCC climate assessment as well as the “Scenarios for a Clean Energy Future” report. Quaker Parent Support Groups, sponsored by New York Yearly Meeting, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and Friends United Meeting, are starting again. They will run mid-November through mid-April with parents across the country meeting over Zoom to talk about what it is like to parent kids in our faith. To participate, you must register by October 31 here.
Robert Wafula, principal of Friends Theological College in Kenya since 2014, is in need of significantly more financial support to continue his leadership of this important Quaker educational institution.
