The Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project’s next Harvest Day is (tomorrow) Saturday, August 11. Please bring all your non-perishable contributions together this Sunday, August 5, so we can give thanks together, and pray for all of the hungry folks in our community. Also, help will be needed on Harvest Day from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. We need more volunteers in August because our regular crew is on vacation. If you are interested in helping, please contact Amy St. George, Pantry Manager, or Dharma Galang, Pantry Director.
NO BIBLE STUDY this Tuesday, August 14. We will resume on Tuesday, August 21 at 7:15PM.
Monthly Business Meeting and Potluck Luncheon is next Sunday, August 19. Please bring a dish, with food in it, or be prepared to contribute $3.00 for supplies. We need a diversity of salads, casseroles, fruit, breads, etc. Be creative!
In remembrance of people who have died on the streets, local musicians and choral singers are preparing a benefit concert (for Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center) of Street Requiem, at 7:30PM on Saturday, August 25, at First Church of Berkeley, 2345 Channing Way. Free. Donations gratefully accepted.
The next quarterly gathering of the Christian Friends Conference—Western Region will be held on Saturday, September 15, here at BFC, 9 AM to 3:00 PM. . You are invited to take part in waiting worship and Bible reading in the manner of Conservative Friends, and to share fellowship and an open discussion with Christian Quakers from around the Bay Area and beyond. Beverages and bagels will be provided in the morning; please bring your own lunch.
Sanctuary Bistro’s benefit dinner for the Berkeley Food Pantry will be on Sunday, September 16. Dinner service will be from 5:30PM to 9:00 PM. Sanctuary Bistro will donate 30% of its profits from the dinner to the Berkeley Food Pantry, so let’s pack the restaurant! Those interested must call Sanctuary Bistro at (510) 558-3381 to make reservations. Sanctuary Bistro is a family run vegan restaurant located at 1019 Camelia Street, Berkeley, CA 94710.
