Who We Are

It is our firm conviction that we are called, as a Meeting and as individuals, to fulfill what Christ stated to be God’s most important commandments: “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second one is this: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mk 12:29-31 NIV).

We strive to be disciples of Christ and to be ever mindful of His commission to his disciples: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-21 NRSV). We also strive to put into practice the commandment, “Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth” (I John 3:18).

We are, therefore, to be cheerful witnesses of Christ’s love in this world.

We know from experience that Christ can work in and through any person or people and we seek to turn all to trust and follow that loving Power that works in all our hearts.

We seek God’s guidance in every aspect of our lives through worship and prayer.

We seek to be prophetic witnesses.

We are to nurture and care for one another as Jesus Christ has taught us by his example and teaches us through his immediate presence.

We are Christians and, as Friends, believe as did our Quaker forebears that Christ is a living reality in our lives.

We seek to be a bridge of reconciliation, for the Christian way is a simple way of love and service that we cannot reconcile with wars, oppression, or a spirit of divisiveness.

In our efforts to carry out our calling in the world, we strive to be strong advocates for justice and peace wherever we are, whether in our workplaces or elsewhere in the wider community, and to be open and honest in our dealings with others.

We welcome you to worship with us and participate in our activities whether or not you have made a personal commitment to Christ. We wish to meet you where you are, and explore further the life of faith together.
